The Bored Ape Yacht Announced A Play To Earn Video game Coming Soon. What We Know So Far:

The Bored Ape Yacht Club announced that a play to earn video game is in the works.

Animoca Brands is a Hong Kong based game software company and venture capital company founded in 2014. While you may have never heard of Animoca Brands before today, its likely that you've heard of one of the company's games, The Sandbox.

The Sandbox game currently holds 31 Bored Apes worth at least 2,454.059 Eth or 9,570,000 USD, according to Evaluate. Market.

The Sandbox's impress ape collection includes Bored Ape #3749. As the Bored Ape Gazette previously reported, The Sandbox purchased the gold fur laser eyed primate for 740 Eth back in early September.

“We are excited to announce that we will work with @BoredApeYC to create a #P2E blockchain game utilizing Bored Ape #NFTs,” Animoca Brands tweeted earlier this morning.

The new game is expected to release in quarter 2 of 2022, according to Animoca Brands’ press release.

After the announcement, Animoca Brands' Founder/ CEO and BAYC member, Yat Siu, took to Twitter to express his excitement about this partnership.

“A special honor for @animocabrands to be working with the incredible talent over at @BoredApeYC @yugalabs on a really fun p2e #blockchain game, he tweeted. “Few brands represent #NFT culture & community as powerfully as @BoredApeYC who truly embody #NFTs as a store of culture.”

While not much is known about the game or the play to earn mechanics, Siu posted a thread after the announcement detailing his companies relationship with the BAYC and his goal for an “open metaverse.”

At the end of Siu’s Twitter thread, he referenced a post that The Sandbox made earlier this year after the game purchased Bored Ape #3749.
