TALES FROM THE MINE: This Prolific Prospector Nearly Went Mad Digging Through 157 Million Hashes For A Gold Ore!

The ApeChain gold rush came to an end last week, but tales from the mines are just starting to trickle out.

One of ApeChain’s most prolific prospectors and the Founder of Pixl Pals, CryptoBulliez, who mined over three percent of all the gold, almost went mad in the Hashes as one of his pickaxes continued to pick, pick, pick without finding even a nugget for an insane 157,903,086 attempts!

During the gold rush heyday earlier this month, CryptoBulliez headed west, onchain, to support his friend Uncle Mac and to see if he could strike it rich.

“I've been supporting Uncle Mac, a fellow dev/founder/ and builder in this space for a while. When he first discussed the concept behind the mine, he was very mysterious and it resulted in us speculating what it would entail,” CryptoBulliez said. “Little by little he released clues, and we eventually got the picture... well some of us. Needless to say, when the mint dropped for the pickaxes I was max minting loads across various wallets that had allocations. I blew the dust of several macbooks I had laying around for years and ultimately had my NFTs mining across 3 macbooks and my cellphone.”

CryptoBulliez struck gold, a lot of gold. At his peak, he had hundreds of pickaxes searching through millions of hashes for gold all day. But one pickaxe couldn’t find a nugget, and it was driving him mad.

“Due to the nature of finding a hash with a specific suffix (the hex value for gold), there's about a 1 in 16Million chance of finding an eligible hash," he explained. “so, when we're lucky it can be almost instant.. but, as is the case with the ore in question, sometimes it can take what feels like an eternity. I have hundreds of miners doing their thing at any given time, and claim in bulk when they're all done.. usually. I remember collection the lot except for that one at least 3 or 4 times before that one was also ready for harvest.”

The elusive gold ore that took all this time is Gold Ore #47089, a nugget with 16 gold in it.

“Yes, its true,”  CryptoBulliez tweeted on March 13th. “With only 16 gold.. this ore doesn't hold much value in ape from the mine.. but its priceless to me! 157,903,086 attempts.. sheesh..”

Today, CryptoBulliez still holds 2,460 ores, including that one hard-to-find piece as a keepsake from the mine.

Looking ahead, CryptoBulliez is excited to see what Uncle Mac does next with the mine and says the ApeChain gold rush was a great!

"overall, its been a delight to have instant utility for assets I've been holding onto dear life during this season of spotlight,” he said. “shout out to the team again for this amazing rising tide, as many projects have benefitted from being included in the mine.”

The Bored Ape Gazette will bring you more tales from the mine and will let you know what Uncle Mac has the trenches digging up next. Stay tuned for updates!
