One of the ApeCoin DAO’s largest voting blocs announced its shutdown, shaking up the voting landscape in the $Ape ecosystem.
On Wednesday, Surreal Guild leader and former ApeCoin DAO Special Council member Gerry announced that he and his wife, DeJen, had decided it was time to bring their delegation to an end.
“GM Today we're announcing that the Surreal Guild will be unwinding its voting block,” Gerry wrote late last night. “We will be delegating our voting power and encouraging our members to delegate to democratic voting blocks such as MBA & Apes+ Special thanks to @dejen_eth for running the show for 2 years.”
“After two amazing years of running the Surreal voting block, it’s time to close this chapter,” Surreal Guild Lead DeJen told the Gazette. “I’m proud of the work we’ve done together and grateful to everyone who contributed along the way. The ApeCoin community has lot of very talented and passionate people that care about the success of ApeCoin and a few that dedicate all of their extra time and energy to it. We all should appreciate them and thank them whenever possible. Without these leaders there would be nothing to vote on. Hope to see you all at ApeFest!!”
For years, the Surreal Guild has been a key player in the $Ape ecosystem, casting over a million $Ape votes on more than 150 Ape Improvement Proposals. It also fostered a close-knit community within the Bored Ape Yacht Club.
“Surreal was truly Legendary,” Gerry told the paper. “She organized a Picnic in the Park in Central Park a couple years ago. We all had an absolute blast. She really did build an incredible community.”
Although the Surreal Guild is ending, Gerry and DeJen assured the Gazette that they are not leaving the $Ape and BAYC communities, and that they plan to announce their next Ape themed adventure soon.
