SEEING SHADOWS: BAYC Members, Dogs, CryptoPunks, Kodas, q00tants, And q00nicorns Use Yuga Labs’ New Tech To Mint Mintotaurs On ApeChain!

The Yugaverse and a pair of projects made by 0xQuit were seeing their Shadows on ApeChain this morning as they took part in today’s Mintotaur mint, which utilized Yuga Labs’ new cross chain tech!

Phase 2 of the Mintotaur mint ended as quickly as it began on Tuesday, as Bored Apes, Mutants, Doggos, CryptoPunks, Kodas, q00ants, and q00nicorns quickly placed hands and claimed the 530 available Mintotaurs this round.

Today’s Phase 2 mint was historic and marked a new chapter in the ApeChain ecosystem; one where developers and creators can reward Ethereum mainnet NFT holders on Layer 2 networks like ApeChain by bringing a ‘shadowed’ version of their NFTs cross chain with Yuga Labs’ Shadow tech.

As the Bored Ape Gazette previously reported, these Shadows are more than just Ethereum native NFTs showing up on ApeChain. They give creators and developers in the $Ape ecosystem the ability to reward holders of specific NFTs, include them in airdrops and mints like today’s Mintotaurs, unlock new NFTfi opportunities, and offer other incentives just as easily as if they were building directly on mainnet.

The Mintotaurs mint continues with Phase 3 tomorrow morning, when a list of unannounced ApeChain based NFT collections will be invited to Ape onto Blever and try to mint a mystical beast.

 

At this time, we do not know which NFTs will be eligible, but we do know that every wallet can only claim one Mintotaur across all phases.

This means a Gobs On Ape holder or Bored Ape holder who already minted a Mintotaur with their wallet will not be able to mint again during tomorrow’s Phase 3. And even those holding two or more eligible NFTs will still only be able to mint one. So, if you’re planning to try for multiple Mintotaurs, you’ll need to split your ApeChain NFTs across different wallets.
