After the ApeCoin DAO elected BoredApeG, Veratheape and Gerry to the Special Council this evening, the Bored Ape Gazette reached out to Special Council member Yat Siu for comment.

The ApeCoin DAO’s first election season was anything but boring and came down to the final minutes.

After eight-weeks of campaigning, 42 candidates, two rounds of voting, and a major shakeup in the final 11 minutes, the ApeCoin DAO has elected BoredApeG, Veratheape and Gerry to join Siu and Alexis Ohanian on the Special Council in January 2023.

After the polls closed the Bored Ape Gazette reached out to Siu and asked him for comment on the election and for his thoughts on the three new Special Council members.

“I am excited to work together with the new council members,” Siu said. “The election and the fact that it was both contested and, in some instances, a tight race demonstrates that the Apecoin DAO embodies much of the spirit of a working democracy and also highlights how much work there needs to be done here. I am also very happy that the election has put forward a diverse group of passionate people that represents the diversity of the Apecoin community.”

Siu echoed his comments to the Gazette earlier this evening in a Tweet.
