Q&A: This AIP Aims To Make Future AIP Authors Explain How Their Proposal Adds Value To The DAO

The ApeCoin DAO is voting on an Ape Improvement Proposal this week that aims to benefit the community by having future AIP authors explain the why behind the what when proposing initiatives at the ApeCoin DAO!

AIP-262 titled “Add ‘Benefit to ApeCoin Ecosystem’ to AIP Templates” is a process proposal written the Special Council elect member Waabam and ApeCoin DAO Contributor Fudmaster on behalf of the Bored Club Canada.

“There is a recurrent issue in the ApeCoin DAO where AIPs go up to vote without a clear explanation of how they will benefit the ApeCoin ecosystem,” Waabam and Fudmaster wrote. “This AIP will help address that problem by requiring AIP authors to explain how their proposal will benefit the ApeCoin ecosystem. Including “Benefit to ApeCoin Ecosystem” as a dedicated section would provide more insight into the intrinsic value of an AIP to the ApeCoin DAO ecosystem, while empowering voters to better make an informed decision.”

In total, AIP-262 will not cost the DAO any money and it can be implemented within a day or two of passing, according to Waabam and Fudmaster.

In a sentence or two can you sum up what this AIP is all about?

“There's too many projects who simply add $Ape somewhere in the application without bringing any real value to the ApeCoin DAO. This AIP want to bring more transparency about the actual benefit of AIPs to the Apecoin DAO ecosystem.”

2. What made you write up this proposal?

“AIPs request millions with close to 0 benefits for the DAO. AIPs should serve to improve the overall Apecoin ecosystem and not as a source of financing for unrelated projects.”

3. What kind of impact do you think this AIP will have on the DAO going forward?

“ It should bring more clarity to the voters while at the same time improves the quality of project submitted.”

4. Do you have anything else you’d like to add or say?

“No. Thank you!”

The window to vote on AIP-262 opens tonight at 9 P.M. EST and $Apes will have until next Wednesday, July 5th, to cast their coins and vote on this proposal.
