Q&A: Find Out More About AIP-168, Atrium, And "The Legend Of ApeCoin"

The ApeCoin DAO is currently voting on an Ape Improvement Proposal that aims to create a 12-part animated series dubbed “The Legend Of ApeCoin.”

AIP-168 titled “The Legend of ApeCoin: Atrium Casting Call,” is an Ecosystem fund allocation proposal written by ApeCoin DAO Contributor Anaroth.

“This proposal introduces an ecosystem-wide casting call to all eligible IP Holders powered by ApeCoin,” Anaroth wrote. “The animators of Atrium have experience with Disney, Pixar, HBO, Netflix & more and await the opportunity to co-create with community members. Funding this proposal showcases ApeCoin’s dedication to providing new avenues for creators and results in 12 animations under a 'Legend of ApeCoin’ theme."

In total, Anaroth is asking the DAO to allocate $200,000 USD to create 12 one-minute-long shorts based on various community members’ IP.

To find out more about AIP-168, the Bored Ape Gazette interviewed Atrium and found out more about the Legend of ApeCoin. Take a look at the full interview below:

How did Atrium start and how did you get into Web3 and the DAO?

"Atrium was Founded by Supriyo Roy and Scott Lewis. Roy previously worked on Alexa Smarthome product team and runs an exceptionally dedicated team of developers eager and able to scale. Scott Lewis, best known as a creator of DefiPulse and Canto Public joined as co-founder. Anaroth has been with the Atrium team since inception and has been working with the ApeCoin community over the past few months, been oddly available to almost all ApeComms spaces, a member of WG0, and frustratingly close to becoming one of very few members of trust level 3 in Discourse."

Do You have any story ideas for the legend of ApeCoin storyline?

"Did Lost make you ask this question? He was asking about it in spaces the other day? I’m not trying to dodge the question, but I think one of the best things about the proposal is that it isn't about what I think or what I want. We believe that one of the best ways to ensure incredible content is for the creators to be passionate about what they are creating. That is why we want our animators to select the ideas that will form the storyline from the community. This allows the inspiration to be organic, the execution to be professional, and the outcome to be exceptional. Shortly after the proposal passes community members will have the option to submit their characters and ideas for how and what ApeCoin does in our world. It’s important to note that you shouldn’t feel intimidated, sometimes the best ideas come from an undefined idea. No one should feel like they don’t have a spark of inspiration to add."

Why is animation and storytelling important?

"In an increasingly digital landscape, content rules permanence and brand recall. Good brands build timeless content that fans can anchor on. That in turn creates an increasingly valuable ecosystem around it. As the canon storylines are created officially by Yuga, this proposal to the ApeCoin DAO community has a unique opportunity to co-create equally memorable characters and storylines that are completely driven bottoms-up. As the DAO looks to cement its mission and purpose these animations will also serve as an opportunity to channel and reinforce those themes with content throughout 2023… and if all goes well beyond?"

Where do you see Atrium and the DAO’s relationship a year from now?

"We see this as an opportunity to get started, to celebrate creative ideas from within the community, and begin to develop the IP of ApeCoin. That being said, we believe there are numerous opportunities that we would be able to pursue in the future. In fact, that is part of the purpose behind the proposal. It allows us to test different animation styles from creators, gauge sentiment, and uncover potential villains and protagonists within the community. This would allow us to make more informed decisions for future animations."

Do you have anything else you’d like to add?

We believe that ApeCoin has the opportunity to signal to creators everywhere that they are welcome to fully pursue their creative passions here with us. What can begin with Atrium can signal to so many others that the next stage of media and content is being set here, and ApeCoin can be at the center of it.

The window to vote on AIP-168 closes this Wednesday at 9 P.M. EST. You can read the full proposal here: https://forum.apecoin.com/t/aip-168-the-legend-of-apecoin-atrium-casting-call/9604
