PUNK PURCHASE: The ApeCoin DAO Funded Digital Art Movement Bought A Hoodie Wearing CryptoPunk For $452K!
As the CryptoPunks floor soared past $100,000 for the first time in years yesterday, the Digital Art Movement made a damn statement by adding a hoodie-wearing grail to its top-tier NFT collection!
Earlier today, MachiBigBrother’s ApeCoin DAO funded Digtal Art Movement AKA DAM purchased CryptoPunk #1219 for 130 Eth or 452,000 USD.
CryptoPunk #1219 is a two-attribute male punk sporting an eye patch and a hoodie. “DAM Hoodie Punk,” the Digital Art Movement tweeted following the acquisition.
With this latest acquisition, the Digital Art Movement now owns 212 Bored Apes, 19 Mutants, a Fidenza, a Ringer, and many other high-end NFTs, according to OpenSea data.
As the Bored Ape Gazette previously reported, the Digital Art Movement is an ApeCoin DAO-funded initiative with a mission to spend 11 million $APE on Apes and other NFTs, showcase them in museums and galleries, and give every $APE holder the chance to stake their ApeCoins for the project’s $DAM Token—allowing them to own a piece of this prestigious collection.
“Digital art remains underrepresented in the art world, I want to change this,” MachiBigBrother wrote in his proposal back in 2023. “I want digital art to be omnipresent. By creating and curating the Digital Art Movement Collection (aka “The DAM Collection”), we can proliferate appreciation for digital art worldwide thus leading to education and adoption. There’s no better group of people than ApeCoin DAO members to cement our place in digital art history."
$APE holders interested in staking their ApeCoins for $DAM can learn more about the program on the Digital Art Movement’s website:: https://app.damdao.org
The Bored Ape Gazette will continue to cover DAM and will let you know what the initiatve does next. Stay tuned for updates!
