PLAY BALL: Bored Ape Yacht Club Members Can Attend The MLB's Virtual Ballpark As Their Bored Ape PFP Tonight!
Apes, grab your peanuts and crackerjacks because Yuga Labs’ Otherside partner, ImprobableIo, is taking Web3 to a whole new ballgame in the metaverse tonight—and you’re invited to attend as your 3D-modeled Bored Ape!
Things are anything but boring around the swamp this evening, as Yuga Labs has invited BAYC members not only to attend tonight’s Tampa Bay Devil Rays vs. Detroit Tigers game in the MLB Virtual Ballpark, but to go as their Bored Ape PFPs!
“We're running a last minute test with @Improbableio and @MLB to see what Apes look like in a different kind of Clubhouse,” the BAYC tweeted. “Ballpark opens at 6:25 PM ET at: https://virtual-ballpark.mlb.com Details on how to signup and join in the video in the next tweet in thread.”
“check out tonight’s game in the MLB virtual ballpark as your ape,” Yuga Labs CEO Garga tweeted. “It’s a pretty sweet setup, the players on the field recreate the live action from the game. Works with delegated wallet so no need to connect cold wallet.”
As the Bored Ape Gazette previously reported, the community first got a chance to check out this stadium during last year’s All-Star break in July 2023. Since then, fans have returned to the ballpark numerous times.
“This is a huge leap in tech from MLB and our virtual ballpark collab,” Improbable CEO Herman Narula tweeted in September 2023 “For folks that missed a key point: it’s not only that the game is streamed in it’s also that thousands of people around the world could if they want all be present in that space. For a lot of people that’s a type of magical social experience you just can’t easily have irl and certainly it can bring fans together who might never otherwise meet… it’s a first step but an exciting one.”
