PASSED: The ApeCoin DAO Approved Of AIP-196 This Evening. Here's What Happens Next

After the ApeCoin DAO rejected to renew the Cartan Group’s administrative contract with the DAO last month, the community passed a transition plan this evening.

$Ape holders passed Ape Improvement Proposal 196 titled “BORED AIP: Bringing Order and Reliability via Ecosystem Decentralization” this evening with 72.7% of voters voting in favor of the proposal.

“In three short weeks a small group of dedicated people were able to not only avert a potential governance crisis but also build consensus and architect a plan for the future of ApeCoin DAO,” AIP-196 lead author Badteeth told the Gazette. “If that doesn't give you faith in what's possible in a decentralized organization then nothing will. I’ve been energized through this process and now that the community has overwhelmingly voted in favor of AIP-196 I can’t wait to get to work with Working Group Zero. ApeCoin DAO has the talent, brain power, and resources to change the world, and that change starts now!”

Following AIP-196’s approval, the ApeCoin DAO will now “Extend (its) contract with current APE Foundation administrator (Cartan Group, LLC.) two months to maintain continuity and compliance,” according to the proposal. “Implement a transparent Request for Proposals (“RFP”) process to identify future APE Foundation administrators during the extension period (January 1 - February 28, 2022). If necessary, complete handover to future DAO administrator. Form interim working group composed of key DAO stakeholders tasked with developing DAO working group structures and internal capabilities.”

In total AIP-196 will cost the DAO $361,898 USD over the next three months, according to Badteeth. Check out the cost breakdown below:

Following tonight’s vote, Badteeth told the Gazette that he and his co-authors are setting up a “Working Group Zero” Discord that will be open to the entire $Ape community.

“We’re in the process of setting up a Discord to serve as the base of operations for WG0," he said. “The WG0 Discord will have certain areas just for WG0 members, but will be open to all $APE holders as we want to give anyone who is interested in adding value a chance to have their voice heard. Details will follow soon, join us in shaping the future of ApeCoin DAO!”
