Tomorrow’s Project Dragon event will be one for the record books as Yuga Labs invites everyone from the Web3 world and beyond to ape into Otherside and battle it out with their frens in an attempt to set the world record for the most players in an online first-person shooter!
This month’s battle for the metaverse begins this Friday at 9 P.M. EST, and for the first time ever, ANYONE around the world is invited to join Apes, Meebs, Moonbirds, and Voyagers in the metaverse mayhem—and help make history!
“Join us next week for Project Dragon as we battle it out in the Swamp,” Yuga Labs tweeted from its Otherside account last week. “January 31 9pm ET .We're going to attempt to break the world for the most players in an online FPS battle at once. No NFT needed to join.”
Tomorrow’s potentially record-breaking event marks a huge step forward for Yuga Labs as they continue working toward a persistent metaverse that’s packed with fun, large-scale events like this!
“For Otherside's First Trip, we had 4.6k users in one experience,” Yuga Labs CEO Garga tweeted. “For Second Trip, 7k users. But having a shooter with mass concurrency is insanely technically hard. Join us this Friday was we try to break the world record for most players in a shooter with Otherside's Project Dragon. The highest we've done is 1400 users, which is already an insane amount of chaos. Let's beat it, and beat a world record at the same time. Jan 31st, 9pm ET. No NFT required. “
To claim the record for the most players in an online first-person shooter, Yuga Labs will need at least 1,531 playersblasting away in the Swamp tomorrow, according to Wikipedia.
To make this a record-breaking night, Yuga Labs is teaming up with Superverse and Swamp Gaming to onboard even more players!
While an NFT is not required to participate in tomorrow’s Project Dragon event, players must set up a Yuga ID with an email address. To do that, check out Yuga Labs’ Otherside website here: https://launch.otherside.xyz
The Bored Ape Gazette will be bringing you wartime coverage straight from the Swamp during Project Dragon and will report live on whether Yuga Labs and the community successfully break the world record. Stay tuned for updates!
