ON THE BALLOT: This AIP Wants Working Group Stewards To Be Elected By A DAO Wide Vote

There is an Ape Improvement Proposal on the ballot this week that aims to have Working Group Stewards elected by DAO-wide vote.

AIP-347, titled, “Enable DAO-Wide Voting for Working Group Stewards,” is a process proposal written by ApeCoin DAO Governance Working Group Steward, Amplify.

“The purpose of this proposal is to give voting rights back to the broader ApeCoin DAO community and its delegations for Working Group Steward positions,” Amplify wrote.

In AIP-347, Amplify explained that AIP-239, which was passed in April 2023 and established the DAO’s working group structure and created the Ape Assembly, needed to be adjusted to ensure that the DAO’s future Working Group leadership reflected the will of the community and not a select few.

“The Ape Assembly was established as a Governance Working Group Initiative outlined in AIP-239, aiming to facilitate Working Group Steward elections. However, with as few as twenty active voters in recent weeks, there are growing concerns about the legitimacy that those elections would carry,” Amplify wrote. “Furthermore, we need Stewards who have experience in conducting significant outreach within the ApeCoin DAO community, which only DAO-wide campaigns can provide.”

If passed, AIP-347 would not only shift Working Group Steward elections back to the broader DAO but would also reconfigure the Ape Assembly, a governing body of highly active governance participants within the ApeCoin Ecosystem that controls a monthly budget of $10,000 USD, into a committee that is open to anyone with at least one $Ape. This newly modified Ape Assembly committee’s job would be to support and advise Working Groups.

Further, this proposal would move the DAO’s Secretary role outside of the Ape Assembly’s purview and would make the Secretary position a role that’s appointed by the DAO’s Working Group Stewards.

The window to vote on AIP-347 is currently open and ApeCoin DAO Contributors have until Wednesday, November 15th, to cast their coins on this AIP.
