ON THE BALLOT: The Public Bored Aims To Revolutionize Digital Advertising And Earn The DAO Revenue With Its Second Ape Improvement Proposal

After bringing the Public Bored’s mobile advertisements to life at ETH Denver and NFC Lisbon earlier this year, the ApeCoin DAO-funded project is back with a new Ape Improvement Proposal this cycle to change the way businesses advertise!


AIP-457, titled “The Public Bored Phase 2,” is an ecosystem allocation fund proposal written by ApeCoin DAO Contributor and Public Bored Founder MemeBrains.


“We envision a future where anyone can display messages or art on any digital billboard worldwide as easily as sending a Tweet,” MemeBrains wrote. “Short term we’ll acquire our first permanently located billboard as a home base of operations, then open our model as a network for other billboard owners to plug into. This AIP enables us to establish that home base of operations to then scale from.”

 

In AIP-457, MemeBrains lays out a two-year plan for the Public Bored that includes four permanent billboards, building on ApeChain, an advertising app, new software to onboard digital billboards around the world, and more.


To make Public Bored Phase 2 a reality, MemeBrains is asking the DAO to allocate $2.7 million USD worth of $APE to the endeavor. Of this, $1.7 million will go towards securing the four permanent billboards, while the remaining $1 million will be allocated to tech, team, and marketing expenses. In exchange for the $2.7 million USD worth of $APE, the ApeCoin DAO will receive a 20% equity stake in the company, an ongoing 1% royalty, free ad space for the $APE community, and other benefits for $APE holders, according to AIP-457.


“WORST CASE SCENARIO Owning digital billboards is a profitable endeavor, with larger players in the space owning hundreds of thousands of billboards, with their total market caps exceeding $10 Billion,” MemeBrains wrote. “Should our model fail to succeed, our general worst-case scenario is that we would own a valuable, revenue-producing asset in the traditional billboard market which will continue to self-sustain and generate revenue for the DAO treasury.”


The window to vote on AIP-4757 is currently open, and ApeCoin DAO contributors have until Wednesday, August 28th, to cast their coins and vote on this proposal.
