Well damn! On Thursday, MachiBigBrother’s ApeCoin DAO-funded Digital Art Movement took to the timeline with a major update, revealing its NFT holdings, ongoing talks with museums, and plans to bring its $DAM staking to ApeChain!

Following ApeCoin DAO’s recent push for more transparency from past grant recipients, one of the most talked about AIPs in ApeCoin history, the Digital Art Movement, gave the community a full breakdown of what it’s been building since receiving 11 million $APE in September 2023.

"DAM is a thriving, community-run initiative that continues to grow thanks to the incredible support and contributions from our dedicated community,” the project tweeted as part of a nine tweet thread. “We want to extend our heartfelt gratitude to everyone who has helped us along the way. To date, no salaries or compensation have been distributed, making this a true labor of love driven by our passionate supporters.”

In the thread, the Digital Art Movement revealed that its current DAM Collection includes 217 Bored Apes, 20 Mutant Apes, CryptoPunk #1219, Fidenza #229, Ringers, Winds of Yawanawa, Where My Vans Go, Anticyclone, Themes and Variations, Meridian, Chromie Squiggle, The Harvest, Life in Japan Editions, Memories of Qilin, Damien Hirst’s The Currency, QQL Mint Pass, Singularity, and a Trichromatic.

DAM also revealed that it’s in talks with the Belvedere Museum, LACMA, MoMA Shanghai, MUCA in Munich, and the Bowers Museum to get Apes and other NFTs exhibited soon.

“Digital art remains underrepresented in the art world, I want to change this,” MachiBigBrother wrote in his original proposal back in 2023. “I want digital art to be omnipresent. By creating and curating the Digital Art Movement Collection (aka “The DAM Collection”), we can proliferate appreciation for digital art worldwide thus leading to education and adoption. There’s no better group of people than ApeCoin DAO members to cement our place in digital art history."

Along with efforts to bring Apes into museums, DAM announced that it will soon be bringing its $DAM token, which represents fractionalized ownership of the entire DAM collection, to ApeChain.

“We’re excited to announce that staking is transitioning to ApeChain in the near future. Stay tuned for more details,” the project tweeted. “As part of our journey, 3 billion out of the 10 billion DAM tokens have been distributed to ApeCoin stakers, further expanding our community’s reach. The only way to acquire DAM tokens is through staking or via secondary markets, directly benefiting ApeCoin stakers as key participants in this program.”

As we wait for $DAM to move over to ApeChain, everyone can stake their $Ape and start earning $DAM on mainnet or BLAST here: https://app.damdao.org

The Bored Ape Gazette will continue to follow the Digital Art Movement and will let you know when DAM’s collection starts appearing in museums and when you can stake your $APE for $DAM on ApeChain. Stay tuned for updates!
