From the fields of Grimald to the swamp of the Bored Ape Yacht Club, everyone lent Gobs On Ape founder James Hall their ear on Monday as he revealed more about the mighty Mintotaurs and their upcoming free mint!

It was a Mintotaur Monday in the ApeChain ecosystem as the project’s founder, James Hall, joined Dutchee on Spaces to discuss the most hyped free mint of the year, share new details about the art, and reveal a list of Ethereum-based NFTs that will be able to try minting a Mintotaur on a first-come, first-served basis!

During the Space, Hall first recapped what we already know: the Mintotaur collection consists of 3,333 creatures and will mint for free on Blever across several claim windows from April 20th–24th.

Every Gob will be able to claim one Mintotaur beginning this Sunday, April 20th, through April 22nd.

If the 2,222 Gobs each claim one Mintotaur, that leaves 1,111 Mintotaurs to be allocated across mint windows for Bored Apes, Mutant Apes, and BAKC holders, as well as to several unannounced ApeChain NFT collections and Ethereum-based collections such as Yuga Labs Shadows, Moonbirds, CryptoPunks, and Kodas, which Hall revealed will be getting allocaitons during the Space.

Note: While we don’t know which ApeChain collections will be included, Hall confirmed that his first project, Creative Commers, and Blever’s Blever Pass will not receive allocations.

As we wait to find out who else will be invited to mint/ claim a Mintotaur, Hall discussed the differences and similarities between Gobs On Ape and Mintotaur art. Both projects use a 29x29 pixel grid, but while Gobs are intentionally tiny, Mintotaurs are meant to be massive.

“Goblins were an exercise in minimalism,” Hall explained. “Theyre little small guys. If you do not resize them on your PFP, look how tiny they are. And Mintotuars are an exercise in maximalism. If you have a fully traited out Mintotaur its going to be a lot of pixels. There are folks who like minimalism and there are folks who like maximalism, so I thought, how can I just make something big and brutey?”

Hall also revealed that the Mintotaurs will be forward-facing PFPs and that they  are part-human, and part-bull.

The Mintotaur mint begins later this week, and Hall teased that more surprises are in store, including an “AI-spiced thing” on the mint site. “I always like to build a little bit of extra stuff,” he teased.

The Bored Ape Gazette will continue to follow all things Mintotaurs and will keep you posted on the mint and the mighty creatures as more details come down the mountain. Stay tuned for updates!
