MEET THE CANDIDATE: Lola_Creates Is Running For Special Council

ApeCoin DAO contributor and Special Council nominee, Lola_Creates, is looking to bring her skills as a reality TV producer to the Special Council to produce real results for the $Ape community!

The election season of 2023 is underway at the ApeCoin DAO, with 21 contributors officially running to replace Yat Siu or Alexis Ohanian on the DAO's Special Council this summer.

Among the candidates vying for a position on the ApeCoin DAO's Special Council is ApeCoin DAO contributor Lola_Creates.

"I’m running for Special Council because I think I can contribute to the DAO in a positive way,” Lola_Creates wrote on her ApeCoin candidate page. “I’m finishing a two-year term at my kids’ school PTA Board, and realized I was learning a lot, enjoyed the work, and was really good at it. This opportunity sparked my interest because I was already looking for other places, I could continue doing governance work. Also, I’m always looking for ways to participate in projects and organizations within web3 that I believe in."

1.How did you get into the ApeCoin DAO?

“I received a generous airdrop of ApeCoin for owning a MAYC so when the DAO came together, I joined a few months into it. I wasn’t very active, though, and it wasn’t until pretty recently that I was motivated to get more involved.”

2.In a sentence or two, why should the community vote for you?

“I think the community should vote for me because I’m a creative problem-solver and have non-profit governance experience. I see both being very valuable in helping steer a decentralized organization.”

3.What would you like to accomplish if elected?

“One of the main things I’d like to accomplish is to help implement the operational structure that the DAO has voted on by establishing the Working Groups. Continuing the work that the current SC and WG0 have started, ushering in the new Working Groups and helping them operationalize, as well as identifying ways to speed up the AIP pipeline are also things that I would accomplish if elected.”

4. Where do you see the DAO a year from now?

“In a year, I see the DAO’s Working Groups up and running, and more communities involved in the DAO. I hope by then we’ll have clearer regulatory guidelines so we can figure out the best ways to scale even further.”

5. What makes you different from the other candidates?

“I think I’m the only person with a creative profession. As a producer who works in reality TV, I wear a lot of hats, and have had to learn to work well under pressure.”

6. Do you have anything else you’d like to add or say?

“No, thank you.”

The window to vote in the ApeCoin DAO's first round of Special Council voting opens on June 15th, and $Ape holders will have until June 21st to cast their votes and support their preferred nominees. After the first round of voting, the top five nominees with the most votes will proceed to the second round of voting and officially become candidates. The DAO will then conduct one more election from June 22nd to 28th, during which the community will elect two Special Council members to replace Yat Siu and Alexis Ohanian on the board.
