MEET THE CANDIDATE: CEOofWeb3.0 Is Running For Working Group Steward
ApeCoin DAO contributor and nominee for Working Group Steward, CEOofWeb3.0, joined the DAO In January, went through the AIP process, and is now looking to bring his skills to the DAO’s newly created Governance Working Group!
The ApeCoin DAO is in the middle of its second election season and the DAO is voting to fill two Steward positions in its newly formed Governance Working Group.
These two Working Group Steward’s will be responsible for managing their Working Group Multisig, operational tasks, maintaining documents, organizing, and approving initiatives, communicating with the Ape Foundation and DAO Secretary, approving budgets, executing their Working Group Charters, among other things, according to the DAO.
Among the candidates vying for a Working Group Steward position is ApeCoin DAO contributor CEOofWeb3.0.
“To do a task and to do it well, One must require these 4 fundamental factors Intent : Capability : Motivation/Conviction :Competence : As part of my mandate, i will conduct extensive studies on various styles of governance, their threat assessments and profiles, possible exploits, how to navigate those challenges, Pros and Cons so that one can assess it in its entirety (making informed decisions as a collective while keeping all facts in mind) and the discussions around which could be made much more effective,” CEOofWeb3.0 wrote on his ApeCoin Candidate page. “To be published periodically, let’s day for example once a month. The most important part of that being threat assessment and the study of possible attack vectors which may look to undermine the institutions which we’re building here. As the incentive for rigging a system as consequential as the voting process within a DAO with Billions of $ in its treasury is too immense to be overlooked. Sort of like the Arbitrum sequencer, same is the case with MEV boosted node configurations for ETH. Follows the old adage “Show me the Incentive and I’ll show you the outcome” . (something something All a game of Incentives)Instead of going all in on a particular style, I envision a system which consists of a lot of moving parts which are precisely tuned to incentivize the kind of desirable behavior which we’d like to see. zKYC would play an Instrumental role in enabling it, ensuring proof of humanity or personhood which Hal n Adv refer to it as without having the need to trust a third party and without the possibility of having unauthorized access to that data. Look out for the latest upcoming post regarding zKYC. These are the things which I’m super passionate about, that’s the reason why I’m trying to step up my game and try and provide as much value as humanly possible."
To find out more about CEOofWeb3.0 and why he is the right $Ape for the job, the Bored Ape Gazette reached out to him for an interview. Check it out below:
1.How did you get into the ApeCoin DAO?
“While conducting research around DAOs and governance structures, I came across the ApeCoin DAO. Started lurking here for a bit before I realized that the community is token gated but not for BAYC and MAYC assets but anyone holding 1 APE so that’s how I landed here. Created an account in mid-January, created a couple of banger posts, went through the AIP process (which went bust), learned a lot and developed (and developing) a robust tech stack including @Apecointracker, Event coordination and (regional, trait specific and unified), Measuring KPIs with Dynamic NFTs, Content transcription, translation and Summarization among other Things. Additional information here: https://forum.apecoin.com/t/consolidating-the-tech-stack-for-a-c-t-new-additions/13681”
2. In a sentence or two, why should the community vote for you?
“As someone who’s done extensive research into the relevant academic literature and someone who’s spent most of my free time in the last couple of months sifting through 1000’s of pages to gain enough insights which’d be helpful in designing the (relatively) perfect governance structure + ecosystem around for an Implementation which I’ll keep private atm and then looking into adapting that particular model which’ll be fit for a Web 3 Revenue Based Financing protocol which aims to provide permission less access to credit. “There’s still a lot of room to not only discuss issues like the need (or lack thereof) voting reform, Dynamic scaling, Dynamic Lockups but also in terms of optimizing the entirety of this ecosystem so that it runs like a well-oiled machine with minimum friction. And I am well suited to not only hold that conversation but to build on top of it. My discourse username is. @CEOofWeb30. Check out my latest topics which cover Threat assessments and conversations around Ideal governance mechanisms. Actions speak much louder than words, I’m all for increased transparency and that’s one of the reasons why I’ve made my assessment of the Treasury’s funds and the wallets which it consists of public showing that I walk the talk as well. Here’s the link to that forum post of you’re interested : https://forum.apecoin.com/t/community-led-assessment-of-the-daos-treasury/13622”
3. If elected, you’ll be one of the first three WG Stewards. How do you feel about that and what kind of foundation would you like to help set?
“It’ll be an honor to be among the select few who were selected for this position. It’s a big responsibility and I’d have Big shoes to fill, not to say I won’t get right on it and give it my absolute best every single day. As my Dad who has spent his entire life managing big infrastructure projects says, If we do not lay down a solid foundation, then despite our best efforts the building will develop massive structural faults. TLDR : A building built upon a shaky foundation cannot stand the test of time. Transparency within a DAO is one of the most fundamental pillars there is. I’ll give you an example from the tech side of things, popular Open-source projects are one of the most secure projects as there are thousands of eyes on the project at any point of time for every dozen or so malicious actors. Cause There’s an Incentive to uphold the Integrity of that particular software solution cause they’re using it themselves. And cause of this deep-rooted belief, I decided to make the list of our treasury’s active wallets public. Keeping that data private was doing no good so why not ? But now we know that we seriously need to update our list of treasury wallets listed at the official website. I’m all for putting Checks and Balances in place to prevent any supposed overreach. Ensuring there is proper oversight and accountability. As our primary role is to take decisions which are in the best long term interests of the DAO and its members and we have an Obligation to give them our 100%.”
4. Where do you see the WG framework a year from now?
“If we’re able to do a good job, then I can see making ourselves obsolete in the long(er) term, at least in this current form with these particular responsibilities. That’s just a part of progress. I see the governance WG framework being a model for how it should be done in the future for the WGs to come.”
5. What would you like to accomplish as a WG Steward?
“Tend to the duties of a Governance steward listed within the Charter and then some ;) Ratification of Ape assembly, ensuring they have everything for its smooth operation and there’s no friction between gears. Optimizing the process and making it High Speed Low Drag in the military jingo. Ensuring there is proper oversight and accountability and there exist sufficient checks and balances to negate the possibility of overreach. Striking the conversation around the need for (or the lack there of) voting reform, something which I’m very passionate about.”
6. What makes you different from the other candidates?
“My extensive knowledge around how governance systems work, how incentives shape Human behavior and how algorithmic game theory helps uphold system integrity. All this information being sourced from relevant academic literature, logical deductions and non-academic sources (surveys, mathematical models etc). I’ve maintained this effort of continuous intake of info while working on a couple of project commitments as well as a few projects of my own and plan on doing. Most of the effort I’m able to put in comes from Intrinsic motivation which is a really powerful motivator. I don’t let the setbacks one inevitably faces to get into the way of things which are really important to me, effective governance being a part of it. It forces you to strive to become better, stay at the top of the game and strive for greatness. That sort of intrinsic motivation is rare, without which sustaining that position for any prolonged period is next to impossible. It’s like fighting an uphill battle with your mind. Apart from this, I’ve been an avid contributor within the DAO and am familiar with a lot of its intricacies, not to the extent someone else who has spent more time than me here. My time usually gets split between building cool stuff for the DAO → then collecting feedback on it, sifting through academic literature → taking excerpts and contributing towards conversations.”
7. Do you have anything else you’d like to add or say?
“At the end of the day, one must remember that we are unique individuals within a trust less system, striving to achieve a collective goal but our approaches are different than one other. All we need to do is to effectively channel all this talent towards a singular direction. This effort would be instrumental in shaping the way ahead. I’d like to Invite you to go over a couple of posts I’ve making on the forum as we speak, I’d really appreciate it if you take some time to go through and leave your feedback there. I’d really appreciate it if we could continue this conversation there. (I’m @CEOofWeb3.0) My top Pics would be → Towards an Ideal Governance System and Quadratic Voting Threat Analysis Although I lean towards the reformer side of things but I do believe that reforms should not be made until the reasoning behind the existing state of affairs is understood. Some food for thought : “Don’t destroy what you don’t understand” With that said, I’d love to receive any feedback whatsoever. Hope you have an awes00m day. May the force be with you and the best value proposition win.”
