“IT'S NOT A CULT”: Bored Ape Yacht Club Members Gathered For Night 1 Of ApeFest At A Centuries-Old Convent!

Just because thousands of Apes gathered at a centuries-old convent last night—complete with statues and stained glass windows of the Bored Ape Yacht Club’s mascot, Curtis—doesn't mean the club is a cult. Or maybe it does!

Things were anything but boring on Friday as Apes from around the world came together at Convento Do Beato, a hermitage-turned-convent-turned-event-center, to take part in the annual ritual that is ApeFest.

During the event, Apes drank Mutant Beer and 288 Whisky at the speakeasy, made sacrifices before the shrine of Curtis, created their own Portuguese-inspired tiles, made wishes at the wishing well, and vibed with friends, old and new, strengthening their belief in the swamp!

Some Apes even made lifelong commitments to the club, getting flash tattoos to commemorate this year’s event.

“Alright, ape for life @BoredApeYC and for the Cult(ure),” BAYC member Vsnrt tweeted along with a photo of his new Mutant Ape skull logo tattoo.

Following the completely not-cultish event last night, the Club’s resident seamster, Nifty Tailor, released a new hoodie design to remind everyone that “It’s not a cult.”

It’s hard to find a more creative community than @BoredApeYC and an incredible team like @yugalabs,” BAYC member Vera tweeted after the event. “Thank you all for the amazing experiences.”

Night 2 of ApeFest 2024 begins tonight at 8 P.M. at LX Factory, and it sounds like it’s going to be anything but boring. “Do not miss tonight,” Yuga Labs’ Social Lead BaronVonHustle tweeted.

The Bored Ape Gazette is bringing you continued ApeFest 2024 coverage, with updates and posts throughout night 2. Stay tuned!
