ImprobableIo’s interoperable metaverse felt like a "Field of Dreams" on Wednesday as Apes emerged from the swamp to attend the company’s virtual ballpark and enjoy America’s pastime!
The famous line, "If you build it, they will come," rang true as Apes, Web3 enthusiasts, and baseball fans aped into ImprobableIo’s virtual ballpark to watch the Tampa Bay Rays take on the Detroit Tigers.
While this wasn’t the first time baseball and crypto fans experienced a simulcasted game in the metaverse, it did mark the first time Apes could attend the event as their PFPs—making the experience truly special.
BAYC members filled the stands, crowded the field, and danced the night away as the Tigers defeated the Rays 4-3.
“This Improbable x MLB experience is pretty damn awesome,” BAYC member Squashman tweeted along with a photo of his Bored Ape in the stands. “Even got the sun hitting my ape's face in the stadium, which is wild. Stoked to explore the ballpark!!”
As the Bored Ape Gazette previously reported, Improbable has been hosting these virtual ballpark events in collaboration with the MLB since July 2023, when the Web3 community was first invited to watch the All-Star break festivities.
Improbable’s Virtual Ballpark, like Otherside, is built on the company’s M2 network. This means Apes can look forward to more events like last night’s ballgame and other happenings across the M2-powered interoperable metaverse!
“It’s essentially like an ecosystem that lets everybody profit,” Narula said of M2 during a metaverse meetup event on June 2023. “So, you can make a world like Sandbox and Decentraland, you can connect one in, you can create MML objects, and you can have them move from world to world. You can create and use experiences that have thousands of people in them at the same time. And none of these are going to be decisions that are only made my Improbable. So M2 stands apart from us and is kind of like an underlying telecoms network for the metaverse. And there will be economic incentives that will incentivize all of the large metaverses we are working with to create more interoperability.”
