GOING BANANAS: BananaOnApe’s Digital Banana Token Takes On An Iconic Physical Fruit Artwork As Both Pieces Hit The Market This Week!

Updated: 2 hours ago

You’ve seen a banana taped to a wall. But have you seen an animated banana taped to a digital wall, turned into an NFT, and fractionalized? Well, it’s happening tomorrow, and everyone is invited to ape in!

The battle between the digital and physical worlds comes to ApeChain tomorrow with the launch of the BananaOnApe project's BN404 NFT. Coinciding with Sotheby’s upcoming auction of Maurizio Cattelan’s iconic 2019 work, Comedian, the BN404 aims to outshine the physical piece’s final sale price with a higher market cap, leaving its mark on both the art world and ApeChain!

Tuesday will be bananas on ApeChain as the BananaOnApe team pays homage to Cattelan’s Comedian—a banana taped to a wall—with their own BN404: a digital banana taped to an ApeCoin-blue background.

“ApeChain is the fruit of monkeys and the fruit of monkeys is the banana,” the project told the Gazette. “This is the message that we of the banana team repeated to ourselves every day since we decided to do something for ApeChain for the club. Our main goal is to make the banana something extremely inseparable from monkeys but also useful to everyone else.”

To achieve this, the BananaOnApe team will fractionalize the BN404 NFT into one billion “Bananoshi” tokens tomorrow. Holders of BananaOnApe’s NFTs and presale participants will receive a share of this legendary fruit.

Once fractionalized, the team said that BN404 tokens will be tradeable as an ERC-20 token on Camelot.

Cattelan’s Comedian has been in the news again as it heads to auction at Sotheby’s, where it’s expected to fetch between $1 million and $1.5 million.

With tomorrow’s tokenization, the BananaOnApe team hopes the market cap of their BN404 project will exceed the final sale price of Cattelan’s physical artwork; proving the that digital beats the physical.

“The next step of this journey is to "challenge" Maurizio Catteland with his next auction of his artwork depicting the banana,” the project said. “The community goal is to ensure that the marketcup of the 404 banana token exceeds the end-of-auction value of his artwork. Which will win the physical banana or the digital one?”

The Bored Ape Gazette will continue to follow the BananaOnApe project and its BN404 token. Stay tuned for updates!
