GAME ON: Complex Death Collection Drops On ApeChain, And Each J-Peg Has A 30% Chance Of Being Burned After Purchase!
NFT trading isn’t for the faint of heart—especially when the collection’s mechanics could result in you losing your J-Peg as soon as you hit “buy!”
On Thursday, a new project called “Complex Death” launched, described by its creators as a “CoDe experiment” on ApeChain. The twist? Every NFT purchase comes with a 3-in-10 chance of being burned!
“>100X mint on ApeChain today,” BAYC member and Coffee With Captain Morning Show host Chrsi Jourdan tweeted. “Complex Death minted out about 3 hours ago for .25 $ape & has ran up to 25 ape! Fun, novel mechanic on this one too! On any transfer/sale, there is a 30% chance NFT gets burned New kind of rush! went 1 for 3 on first mini sweep. 4 for 4 since.”
At the time of publication, over 2,000 Complex Death NFTs had been burned, and the floor price had skyrocketed to an impressive 36 $APE!
Since its launch this morning, $Apes and Apes alike have embraced the degen mechanics, indulging in a little on-chain Russian Roulette to see if luck is on their side. Take a look at some of the community’s reactions below:
"Complex Death… another dev having fun in the contract,” ApeChain enthusait Rox4None tweeted. “Love to see it! It’s nerd season at #ApeChain!!! Managed to dodge the burn to pick 1 up, after burning 5. What a ride!”
As $Apes embraced this new game, the project caught the attention of Yuga Labs’ VP of Blockchain, 0xQuit, who said he loves seeing experiments like this come to life on ApeChain.
“Complex Death has a 30% chance to burn an NFT each time it transfers (until 9000 have been burned),” Yuga Labs VP of Blockchain 0xQuit tweeted after the launch. “Always wanted to build something similar, so glad somebody did it. The home of fun is on ApeChain. Note: this can totally be gamed with a contract to ensure your purchase doesn't end up burned. I imagine if the floor gets high enough, we'll see that start to happen. A good way to avoid that would be to use a VRF provider that issues a callback to burn after the transfer.”
The Complex Death collection’s 3-in-10 burn rate mechanics will remain in effect until only 1,000 of these pixelated characters remain.
The Bored Ape Gazette will continue to follow Complex Death and will keep you updated on any other on-chain games launching around the $APE ecosystem. Stay tuned for updates!
