The Web3 world laced up its virtual sneakers and hit the metaverse yesterday as Other Page hosted its debut Runic Canopy Run—that combined the metaverse, social gaming, and Web3 acheivement!
On Thursday, Apes, $Apes, and Web3 enthusiasts from around the globe logged into the Improbable-powered M² metaverse to tackle the Runic Canopy Run. Set in an ancient castle filled with dobstacles and traps, participants raced against the clock to claim a digital badge and a shot at the 1,000 $Ape prize!
“We’re thrilled to see the community come together for Runic Canopy Run and compete for some $APE.” Other Page Experience Lead SeanNana told the Gazette. “This experience highlights the potential of combining MSquared’s technology with Other Page. Features like concurrency and MML for real-time updates allowed us to shape the experience dynamically without deploying new builds. The possibilities here are exciting, especially for objects updating in real-time across multiple worlds.”
At this time, we don’t yet know who won yesterday’s race, but 94 community members managed to finish the run—a remarkable feat, considering this reporter couldn’t make it past the swinging bombs!
Looking ahead, Other Page hopes to host more social experiences in Improbable’s M² metaverse and continue finding ways to connect Web3 frens!
“Today's event on @MSquared_io showcased just one of the major plans and vision's for@OtherPageHQ,” Other Page Head of Business Development Taylor Nelson tweeted after the run. “In-game experiences, directly connected to an external, universal avatar profile. Real-time achievements, profile data on in-game leaderboards, and on-chain badges. More to come.”
The Bored Ape Gazette will continue to follow the Runic Canopy Run and will report back when the winners are announced. Stay tuned for updates!
