In just two weeks, Bored Ape Yacht Club member Crypr0xi made waves by purchasing a Trippy Fur primate, completing its full set, and gaining valuable insights about Mutant market dynamics that he believes are stopping more people from cracking open an insane one and making Mutant Apes!

On February 17th, BAYC member Crypr0xi made waves around the swamp when he purchased Bored Ape #6316, a six-trait Trippy Fur primate wearing a Guayabera shirt and a fisherman’s hat, for 28 ETH ($76,000 USD). He then drank an M1 serum, revealing the primate’s insane Trippy counterpart!
“My goal was to mint two fresh mutants and take part in the evolution of this ecosystem in a meaningful way,” Crypr0xi told the Gazette at the time. “Finding an unmutated trippy wasn’t easy, but when I came across this one, I knew it was the right pick. So far, I’ve already created my M1 mutant, and now I’m waiting patiently for the right moment to acquire a serum for M2.”
The right moment to acquire that M2 came quickly, and by February 22nd, Crypr0xi had completed his full set.
“Completing the trippy set was a significant moment for me,” he said. “It’s not just about collecting—it feels whole, unique, and like a personal achievement within the BAYC universe. But throughout the process, I realized some deeper issues surrounding the current state of the serum market and how it’s impacting the evolution of the collection.”
Crypr0xi went on to explain that the current serum market dynamics make it hard for anyone, even those with high-end and rare Bored Apes, to justify purchasing a serum and using it on their primates because the juice is worth more than the Mutant.

At this time, an M1 serum cost three Ethereum and an M2 cost 10 Eth. compared to a floor pirce for M1 and M2 Mutants at 2.13 and 2.4 Ethereum respectively.
“That brings me to the second issue why would anyone even want to complete a set,” he said. “There’s currently no real incentive to do so. If there were a tangible reward for holding a full set—like exclusive access to events, unique perks, special content, or even some form of official recognition—it would give people a real reason to pursue it. But right now, it’s mostly a passion project for collectors who understand the history of these traits and want to piece together the full story. If you’re not driven by artistic or historical value, there’s little reason to go after a full set since there’s no real benefit.”
With this in mind, Crypr0xi thinks that the club should consider adding benefits or perks to full set holders to spur more people to Mutate their Apes instead of keeping their serums on ice.
“This could reignite interest in using serums and make mutant creation worthwhile again—not just in terms of financial value but in terms of cultural and artistic significance within BAYC,” he said
Whether or not full set exclusives ever come, Crypr0xi is happy to be one of the only people in the world to have completed this insane full set, and he encourages others to be apart of history and chug!
“Despite all of this, for me, completing the trippy set was a personal decision that went beyond profitability,” he said. “It’s part of a bigger story, part of BAYC’s DNA, and I’m proud to be among the few who have managed to complete it. The real question is how many more people will be willing to do the same in the future—because at this rate, it’s becoming an increasingly difficult challenge.”
The Bored Ape Gazette will continue to follow Crypr0xi and the Serum market and will keep you posted on other insane full sets popping up around the swamp. Stay tuned for updates!
