The United States may have just joined the Bored Ape Yacht Club after President Donald Trump signed an executive order establishing a Strategic Bitcoin Reserve and U.S. Digital Asset Stockpile, that may include a Bored Ape!

As the financial world watches Washington today for more details on President Trump and Crypto Czar David Sacks’ Strategic Bitcoin Reserve, BAYC members are more interested in the U.S. Digital Asset Stockpile, which may include a Bored Ape that the FBI seized from a scammer back in February 2023.

According to the executive order that Trump signed on Thursday, the Digital Asset Stockpile will be made up of “digital assets other than bitcoin owned by the Department of Treasury that was forfeited in criminal or civil asset forfeiture proceedings.”

Based on this, many in the Web3 space believe that the Bored Ape the FBI seized two years ago could be included in the stockpile.

“2 years ago the FBI seized BAYC #9658,” BAYC member and Yuga Labs Social Lead Mr. Eth tweeted along with a photo of the primate. “Today the U.S. Digital Asset Stockpile consists of 1 Bored Ape.”

Bored Ape #9658 is a six-trait DMT fur primate sporting a work vest, a spinner hat, and an orange background.

Following Mr. Eth’s post, the Bored Ape Gazette filed a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request with the U.S. Treasury to determine whether NFTs like BAYC #9658 are included in the stockpile.

The Bored Ape Gazette will continue to monitor the U.S. Digital Asset Stockpile and let you know if Uncle Sam has officially joined the swamp! Stay tuned for updates.
