CHAOS REIGNED: 1,400 Players Aped Into Otherside For Project Dragon Last Night, Almost Breaking The World Record For Most Players In An Online Shooter!

Chaos reigned across Otherside's Swamp last night as Team Chaos defeated Soma, and 1,400 players aped into the metaverse mayhem of Project Dragon Episode Five—coming oh-so-close to breaking a world record!

Friday night was nearly historic as an insane number of Apes, Meebs, Kodas, Voyagers, and more dove into the metaverse, picked up their ass-blaster rifles, and duked it out with their frens. In total, Otherside hosted around 1,400 players, but we needed 1,531 to smash the Guinness World Record for most players in an online shooter!

During the event, players were divided into two teams: Team Soma and Team Chaos. From the first bored battle to the last, and from the Mutant Cliffs to the Tree of Secrets, Chaos could not be contained, devastating the competition on their way to an exclusive party in the clubhouse!

As Chaos celebrated inside the BAYC, Soma hung out with the club’s mascot Curtis outside, shooting off fireworks to celebrate the Lunar New Year.

Curtis then gave the community a pep talk about just missing the record by a few players and rallied everyone to do it next month!

“Agonizingly, we had 1,400 players pew-pewing each other in the face,” he said. “It was glorious, obviously. It was awesome. But we were about 130 players short. As bitterly disappointed as I am, I’m still very impressed with each and every one of you because we are not going to go quietly into the night. We’re going to fight, and next month we’re going to do it right! Who’s with me?”

After the event wrapped up, Yuga Labs CEO Garga took to Twitter to thank everyone for attending, reassuring the community that next month’s Project Dragon would be at a more Euro-friendly time—and that we will try again at breaking the record!

“THANK YOU to everyone who came out for today's @OthersideMeta event,” he said. “WE WERE VERY CLOSE but didn't smash the Guinness World Record this time. Capped out just under 1400 users. We go again next month, and we will definitely break the record then.”
