BUILDING: Yuga Labs Has The Cash And Runway To Build For Years, With A 'Redacted' Project In The Works, According To Garga
2025 is starting strong as Yuga Labs CEO Garga takes to the timeline to announce that Yuga Labs has enough cash and runway to keep going for years, with him and the team focused on making Bored Apes, Otherside, and [redacted] huge—not just for this bull run, but for the next one, and the one after that!
On Thursday, BAYC members 0xWave, JPgFlippa, and Pudgy Penguin WholisticGuy were discussing AI, Yuga Labs' ability to produce, and the company's royalties on the timeline when Garga decided to chime in, offering a top-level look at their financials and emphasizing the importance of grinding over simply throwing cash.
“we have more cash than any other NFT project afaik and it’s not close,” he wrote. "But as you just explained, that can be a curse. People think you can throw money at every problem instead of grinding. if we spend like we did in 2022/2023, when royalties have gone to zero, that's just dumb if I showed you how much previous leadership paid for our most expensive activations versus the ones that actually moved the needle the most, you would lose your mind. You also can't throw bodies at problems cause they won't be aligned, or have the urgency to execute. I am building Bored Ape and Otherside and [redacted] to be massive not just for this bullrun, but so that even IF we fuck EVERYTHING up, we get major swings at bat 5 years from now too different mindset when you can accept being down for a season if it means winning longterm.”
Today’s post comes just a day after Garga took to the timeline to say, “fuck doing expected things,” and laid out his New Year’s resolution, which included cementing the Bored Ape Yacht Club’s place as the best online club in the world, making Otherside bigger, and working on a redacted project with PP Man.
Garga’s post is also reminiscent of a passionate reply he gave community members back in May 2024, just months after he stepped back in as the CEO of Yuga Labs, ending the Daniel Alegre era.
“I’m putting my blood sweat and tears into making things happen,” Garga wrote in Discord on May 18th. “Would have been easiest thing in the world to just let top gaming execs hired to do things keep taking things on the path they were one. Do you think you would have gotten a town hall, Project Dragon, Somnia points for their airdrop, ODK released this week if the same people who were in charge of Otherside the past year were in charge the last 60 days? I get it, I’m pissed too, that’s why heads had to roll and why I’ve stepped back in.”
Since Garga’s return, the community has gotten 3D-modeled Apes, Kodas, and Meebits, monthly trips to Otherside for Project Dragon, two alpha test events for Yuga Labs’ Otherside-native version of Twitter Spaces, Bubbles, and hints of Otherside AI Agents that are being built with the Wire Network team.
The Bored Ape Gazette will continue to follow all things Yuga Labs for years to come and will let you know when more information about the redacted project is revealed. Stay tuned for updates!
