An Otherside Mogul Purchased A Rare Obelisk Friday Night. Here's What We Know About The Unusual Item

An Otherside mogul acquired one of the rarest artifacts in Yuga Labs’ metaverse late Friday night.

Bored Ape Yacht Club member and Otherdeed tycoon, AgoraMarketplace.Eth, who currently owns 100 Otherdeeds, purchased Otherdeed #87598 for 50 Eth or $63,000 USD.

Otherdeed #87598 is a four-star Splinter environment on Cosmic Dream Sediment with Moldium, Luster, and bonestone resources. Otherdeed #87598 also has one of the rarest Otherside artifacts on its land. Otherdeed #87598 is also home to a Red Obelisk artifact. In total there are only five of these Red Obelisks on the Otherside.

Following their purchase, AgoraMarketplace.Eth told the Bored Ape Gazette that they purchased the rare item because Obelisk’s usually have special powers in gaming.

“An Obelisk was for a long time on my buy Wishlist,” they told the Gazette. "In a lot of (card) games an obelisk has special powers. Next to that, Otherside added the Obelisk phases as loyalty model on their website (menu item). For me the confirmation that an Obelisk is going to be a very special and important artefact in Otherside. With the decoupling upcoming I can place the Obelisk on every plot that I want. I expect the value will increase from that point.”

As the Bored Ape Gazette previously reported, the Otherside metaverse is currently in the first of the world’s three phases. This first phase is known as the Voyagers Journey, according to the litepaper.

Phase 1 is an 11-part storyline surrounding a mysterious Obelisk that has appeared in the Otherside universe, according to the document.

While we do not know when the community will make its way back to the Otherside, we do know what an announcement is imminent.

Earlier this year, Yuga Labs tweeted from its Otherside account that “The story continues later this Q4,” along with a prequel to the original Otherside trailer.

Quarter four started on October 1st and ends on December 31st. This means that we should be getting a continuation of the Otherside story within the next 49 days.

The Bored Ape Gazette will continue to follow the Otherside and will let you know when Yuga Labs makes an announcement. Stay tuned for details!
