A NEW CHAPTER: BAYC Member Adam Weitsman Acquires All Four Mega Mutant Apes From PTM's Applied Primate!

The Mega Mutants of Applied Primate are about to begin a new chapter after Bored Ape Yacht Club member and entrepreneur Adam Weitsman acquired them in an undisclosed deal.

Things were anything but boring around the swamp late Wednesday after PTM took to the timeline to announce that he had reached a deal with Weitsman for the stars of his now-defunct expanded Yugaverse project, Applied Primate.

 

“Big news,” PTM tweeted. I'm excited to announce my close friend  @AdamWeitsman has acquired my four Mega Mutants: Death Bot, Radioactive, Noise and Gold I'm pumped to see these Megas join Adam's already legendary collection.”

 

Following PTM’s post, the Gazette reached out to Weitsman for more details about the acquisition, but did not immediately hear back.

As the Bored Ape Gazette previously reported, PTM announced the closure of Applied Primate, a story telling project that told the tale of Radioactive Mega Dr. Abbot Gibbons, the insane Megas, and the Sentinels,  in December 2024.

 

 

At the time, PTM said the tough decision to close Applied Primate was due to his and the team’s inability to find their market fit.

 

“I think trying to be pioneers of this token-driven gaming and community space we made a lot of mistakes and moved too slowly,” PTM wrote in the Applied Primate community Discord. “A lot of our games and activations were too complex and hard to access and it was hard to figure out what exactly our product was. Was it small puzzle activations for a few hundred people? A game for millions? A role-playing community based in the BAYC universe? We maybe tried to do too much at the same time and our product launches, especially our Sentinels avatar launch that struggled to sell out, suffered because of it. In short, we failed. I am proud of the shot we took and, while it didn't end up where I wanted it to, I enjoyed creating for all of you the past few years and learned a ton doing it.”

As the story of PTM’s Applied Primate ends, the tale of Weitsman’s top-tier NFT collection continues. With today’s purchase, Weitsman now holds five of the 13 Mega Mutant Apes, three Bored Apes, an additional Mutant Ape, a Meebit, three Mega Kodas, two Otherdeeds, three Bored Ape Kennel Club pups, the Golden Key from Dookey Dash, 499 HV-MTLs, and a CryptoPunk!
